Hi again! Here is the second chapter. I wanted to post it quickly because I'm also working on a fantasy story, which hopefully I'll post soon. Enjoy!
Recap:
It was probably the best work I’ve ever done, considering that it was short and done in two minutes. But the only people who knew that were Mr Lance, and Myself.
Miss Torris wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference.
Denise, Eva and I all live near each other, so we usually walk to school together if we spot each other. Otherwise, I’m cool with going on my own, and listen to music on the way.
So, Monday morning. I’m nervous, because Mr Lance won’t be there any more, and I’m not sure what this Torris woman will be like.
I’m a bit late, and get to school just as the bell goes so I rush to class. I burst in, and I’m like, “What the . . . ?”
Everyone’s at the back, with their bags and stuff, and sitting on the teacher’s desk was a woman. Miss Torris, she had to be.
She looked young, fashionable, and maybe . . . fun? I hoped so. She put on a stern face, and looked at me.
“‘Sorry I’m late’ would be more acceptable, thank you.”
“Late . . . ?” I spluttered. “Miss, you’re not marked down late until five minutes has passed after the registration bell.”
Miss Torris put the register down on her lap. “I take the register at the registration bell. That’s why it’s called the Registration bell.”
I couldn’t help but frown. She didn’t need to get all fussy!
“If you’re not here when I call your name, you’re absent until you show up, when you’re marked late. I don’t know your name, but I just finished the register, so you’re late, whoever you are.”
Denise and Eva looked at me from the back of the classroom. They felt sorry for me, but I gave them an encouraging nod, to show that I was okay.
I stood up straight, and folded my arms. “And you are . . . ?” Miss Torris said, looking back down at the register.
“Kay.” I panted, still breathless from rushing to class. Maybe this teacher wasn’t a fun as I hoped she’d be.
Miss Torris glanced up. “Kay what?”
“Kay Ron.” I said, but I thought maybe I wasn’t polite enough, so I added sarcastically, “Miss.”
Her head snapped up, catching the sarcasm, and gave me a warning glare. “Not a good start, Kaydee.”
“Kaydee?” I repeated. “My name is Kay.”
“The register says otherwise.”
“But I’ve just told you that my name is Kay, not Kaydee!” I said angrily. “Nobody calls me Kaydee!”
“I’ll be the first, then.” Miss Torris gave a satisfied smile, as I couldn’t bite back with anything else. I slouched to the back of the classroom, seething. Denise and Lisa didn’t say anything, because they knew.
“I’ll be seating you in alphabetical order, so I can get to know your names.” Miss Torris informed the class.
I groaned, along with about twelve other people, but of course the Teacher From Hell picks on me.
“Problem, Kaydee?” she says to me.
“It’s just . . .” I sighed. “Mr Lance let us sit with our friends, and I hoped -”
“You may or may not have noticed, but I am not Mr Lance.” Miss Torris said bluntly, and chose everyone’s seats by the register.
So now, I was torn.
My surname was Ron, and Denise’s was Rockman, so we’d get to sit together. But Eva’s was Morina so she’s be split from us.
Now, Eva usually would mind, being optimistic, and if she didn’t mind, I wouldn’t either.
But in this case I did, because Oh My God, you won’t believe who the Teacher From Hell sat her next to.
Kelly Nixon.
I have BIG issues with that girl. Denise has issues with that girl.
Eva doesn’t have issues with her because Kelly used to be her friend. Even when Eva went a bit weird, Kelly still wanted to be her friend. Why?
Because she wanted to get back at me. I’m sure of it. Eva doesn’t believe it, but she wouldn’t would she?
Can you believe she made Eva chose between me and her? Well, you know who she chose, or else I wouldn’t be best bud with Eva now.
But Kelly didn’t hate her for choosing me. She kept it Even Stevens.
“Eva! We’re sitting next to each other!” said Kelly happily, and Eva smiled at her. Kelly shot me and Denise a little smug look when Eva wasn’t looking, and it set us on fire.
So we were seated. And I was SO bored. The woman couldn’t even teach.
Doodling in the back of my English book, I started a list. A list of reasons why you DO NOT want to cross Miss Torris.
1. She will embarrass you.
2. If you try and cut back with a smart answer, she will cut back with an even smarter one.
3. She can damage your . . . education. Ha, do I even have one anymore?
I was about to have my first lesson with the Teacher From Hell.
I would have rather drunk from a toilet bowl.
All view and comments are gratefully accepted . . . as long as you aren't too mean! But spelling errors; definately let me know.
Next chapter will be up as soon as I can get access to the computer. Thanks for reading!
