The day is done and ended
The sun has waxed and set
Still I remember the first glance you lended
I remember when our eyes first met

Just to have held your hand
Is to have known the world's greatest treasure
And a simple gaze into your eyes
Brought joy beyond all measure

And when you have lived to be gray and old
Know that your eyes could never grow dim
But for the one whom they sparkle gold
How I have wished that I were him

But now my eyes grow weak and dreary
And as the night's song drifts to the sea
As my body winds down, worn and weary
I'll turn to my dreams where you'll always be
