My heart is a mindless, beating drum
My dream is a soldier’s, longing for home
My life is a battlefield, riddled with pain
My past is never to be lived again

I struggle so hard to forget the past
But the memories triumph and always last
I can not but simply forget
Laws of forgiveness I do transgress

I yearn for the simplicity of youth
With Tag and Go Fish and losing a tooth
I’m no longer a child but not yet grown
I’ve no one to help me; I am on my own
