Mankind

We are the only species

that threatens

our very existence.

Self Discovery

It’s difficult to find yourself

when you are captured in the midst

of copies.

Sneakers

Squeak.

My shoes

are making music.

Superficial

True beauty

Not straight hair nor skinny waists

The integrity and character of your soul.

Hero

Recognizing strength

Surpassing the limits

Carrying others when they cannot carry themselves.

A Raindrop’s Shadow

Silhouetted upon the ground they dance

To the beat of thunder

Spiraling and free falling.

a/n: This is my first attempt at writing haiku. I was told that syllable count did NOT matter. Please let me know if there are any important structural/syllable aspects I am excluding from my writings. Thanks!
