A still lake at midnight;

Your unblinking eyes,

Drowning me in their

Empty intensity.

I break the surface

And breathe in Reality,

Pushing away the thoughts

Which suffocate me.

My gaze

Slides its way

To your lips

And lingers.

Had I magnets in my eyes,

You would be leaning forward.

Unable to resist the pull

Between our lips.

My gaze

Feels its way down

To your hands

And caresses them.

Oh, if there were only words

To describe such beauty.

Adonis’s face pales

When compared to your hands.

The very curve of them

Is enough

To make me

Lose my way.

I wish I could recline

Upon the length of your fingers

And let the days pass

Peacefully.

My gaze

Climbs carefully down

And rests for a while

On your legs.

This seems to

Animate them

For they become entwined

With my own.
