Entranced

At the bottom of the stair,

he waits, like always,

for me, of course.

There's no one else.

His eyes find mine

and I'm entranced.

I can't look away.

Hours seem like eternity.

I'd stare forever.

His hand warm to my touch,

and I'm in his embrace

once again.

Why must our time end?

Why is it cut short?

Bell rings, we're apart again.

I know not if I can stand.

My mind dwells on memories,

I daydream in class.

The clock ticks so slowly.

I fidget, twitch, squirm,

'til he holds me again

and I am calm.
