The Darkness of Light

Your smile says it all

Taking the words from my throat

And the breath from my lungs, I’m choking

I’m struggling to stay afloat

He says “move on, your dreams are in vain”

But he doesn’t see, he can’t feel my pain

Then you flash across my vision

A shooting star in the night

Yet luminous and misguiding

I’m losing my sight

My heart beats in rhythm

With the sound of your voice

Intoxicated by your humor

I’m falling without choice

I won’t listen to him

I’m refusing to let go

My attempts have all failed

You’re the only thing I know

He tells me you hate me

You deny it and I laugh

For all your denial has done

Is shadowed my once clear path

But I’d rather wander blindly

Than to run in joyous light

Because your shadow is naught but darkness

And that darkness is my life.
