Contagion

I tried to cover up myself, try to leave what I am behind.
I tried diverging and changing the thing that I am inside.
For a little bit of time you even made it seem ok.
But not long enough to make the changes stay,
When you stripped it all off and it all just rotted away.

Where's the cure you swore I could find?
Where's the virus you left behind?
Where's the door to where I belong?
The cancer never left, it's been hiding all along.

You better take a good look cause you're full of shit.
There is nothing in my heart, but I’ve tried to believe in it.
I tried to dress it all up and I tried to pretend,
But I can't change anything.
I'm right backat the start
In the end.

You showed me that I'll never belong.
And while you may have left,
You've been here all along.
