Anticipation

Crash!

She shuddered; snapping her eyes shut as she clutched at her thin composition notebook in which she kept a bunch of ideas – be it poetry or stories. She always hated thunderstorms ever since she was a child. As another boom of thunder hit, she winced in terror once more – using her notebook as a shield. When she had opened her eyes for a brief second, she swore she saw a hand raised for a hit, but she then realized that her fear was controlling her… consuming her completely.

Boom!

The flash of lightning timed itself perfectly with the thunder, causing her to flinch and muffle a tiny scream. “Everything’s going to be fine, it’ll be okay…,” she coaxed herself – trying to keep calm. As she tried to breathe thoroughly, she closed her eyes only to see his face. The tears started to pour again – even harder than the pelting rain outside.

The image of his smile, his worry – hell, him was burned into her mind. His scent surrounded her openly. His hugs made her cling to him tightly, never wanting to let go because she felt so perfectly fit in his arms. His body was the perfect type too! Not too built, not too tiny – just… perfect. His corny jokes made her melt…

Her body shuddered. “Stop it… stop thinking about him…” she commanded to herself. He broke her unknowingly. She had died on the inside when he had denied her. How was she to know that he lied? What if he did care, but was too scared?

“Stop having hope for him!” she screamed – the tears bursting down. Her cries became muffled as she writhed under her sheets of her bed. How could she have told him…

That, without a doubt, she really would have waited for his answer for her entire life?

Because…

She loved him.
