Erase

Your shirt

it’s left forgotten on the floor.

I kick it under the bed.

it’s presence known

but ignored.

I can still smell the scent

and so you linger.

I can almost touch you

without lifting a finger.

the laughter I can hear

followed by the tears.

The air fills with fears.

I have to let you go.

even though I can’t.

I must take this stand.

Cause you weren’t

the truthful man.

who would dare to hold my hand.

I let you lead me

on a path that was decieving.

now I have to be true to me.

As the walls come down.

Your shirt I seek.

And with a courage I never knew I had

I begin to erase what you did to me.
