The Good Friday '08 report

The school, normally crowded with students, today is desolate. About 500 people are out. The normal absentee rate isn't nearly this bad.

That’s because, for some reason or another, the school system decided to make us go to school on Good Friday.

Don't ask why, please. I have no idea. All I know is we get Monday and Tuesday off, but the religious holiday? No, of course not! That would be hateful! (I don't get it). Obviously, the majority of students skipped the day and I decided to do a report on the atrocity.

Of course, we're still overcrowded. 1,500 people per day just can't fit in four hallways and a lobby. A photographer actually came in- today- to take pictures to show how bad it is, because next year, we'll be one of the most crowded schools in the county. And bear in mind this school is less then three years old.

The entire day was mainly movies. A good portion of teachers are out too. I'm not here to complain, but honestly, if the system needed another school day why not use Tuesday? (not that I'm advocating Tuesday. I already made plans for Monday night)

The other students- and especially the teachers- are angry about it too. The only kids who came today were forced by parents or Jewish or something else. Kids who are forced to go to school are not happy kids. The teachers loose a free day, but half of them didn't come anyway and opted for substitutes. The substitutes are not happy. (speaking of substitutes, the guy subbing for French is the person who was the sub subbing for Spanish because our Spanish teacher is on leave. So whos teaching Spanish, or do they not have a teacher or something?) Actually, I must be the only one enjoying this because I get to do something of a report and a two question interview.

Me: What do you think about going to school on Good Friday?

Person: (sarcasm) I think its awesome! We should do this once a year!

Me: Is the school overpopulated?

Person" (sarcasm) Yes! Isn't it great!

Lets just say I know strange people.

And thus, I leave you all with questions. Why good Friday? What is up with the photographer? Why is the Cafeteria food not edible? (etc, etc, etc)
