Prologue

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm not normal beyond any stretch of the imagination. Not by any standards, once so ever. Ever wake up and everything is different? It was kind of like that. The anger took over...I was someone else. Something else. One second I was human, normal (kind of) the next I was a wolf. Yes, I know it sounds really, really strange. And if your weirded our you just wait. Or you can step away from this story.

Anyway, my brother moved out when he was seventeen, I figured it was just the 'rentals. Nope. Not at all. It's because he was a werewolf. Just like me. To the readers: No...I'm not insane. Well, not yet. I am dealing with Maxx. All of you are probably like “whaa...?” Heres the deal: I'm Nikki Black. I'm a werewolf. To sum it all up, I'm fast. I'm clever. I'm sarcastic. I have no heightened sense of anything. I sew cute little hats and make cookies to die for.

No. Sorry, I'm not “cute” or “nice”, those words are cut out of my vocab. I'm mean, and rude. I wouldn't be surprised if I couldn't love at all.

I live in a crowded little house with the pack. Five of us. Spencer, age nineteen, my best friend. Maxx, age eighteen, Hayley, age seventeen, our little rocker, she couldn't hurt a fly. Or cook. And has a huge crush on Maxx. Mace, age eighteen, tall, sleepy, brother-like. In an annoying way.

See what I mean when I say “not normal beyond any stretch of the imagination”?
