Pathetic People
I step into the bathroom and face the mirror. Pulling back my hair, I wonder how I’ll look with short hair but then I shudder at the thought and drop it down. I have this box filled with all my makeup-first, I take my foundation and swipe the foam deeply into the rich powder. I smear it on my face-four times until all my blemishes, black heads, acne scars, every imperfection has disappeared. I take out a pencil and sharpen it to it’s pointiest and carefully fill out my eyebrows. Next, is the blush, dark red, illuminating against my cocoa skin. I apply five coats of mascara-the new one that I paid fifteen dollars for from the beauty supply store. Finally, I retrieve my deep red lipstick and colour in my dull pink lips. There. Wait a minute-one more thing. I take out my black eyeliner and draw a dot on my upper lip.
Once in my bedroom, I slip under my blanket and shut my eyes really tight.
