Story Of My Life

Story Of My Life

Amori Takahashi

Chapter 1

The Story Behind The Tale

This is no ordinary fairy tale with the mundane wizards and princes and dragons that are associated with magical tales. Believe me. Oh, you don’t understand? Here, let me take this chapter to explain to you what may confuse you later in the story since you don’t know about the story behind my tale.

Here in this world, I am named Katie Jameson. The teenage daughter of Marie and Shane Jameson and born and raised in a small town in the middle of Kansas. In this form, I am an average 17-year-old with an over-active imagination and ADD. My life had always been rough and I struggled through my years with clumsy diligence.

I wont bore you with the details of my friendless childhood, but skip ahead to the beginning of my teenage years. You see, I was a gawky, weird girl for as long as I could remember. Fascinated with the strangest topics, I often fantasized about living in another world, another dimension. I always felt that I was not in the right body, and no I’m not talking about gender confusion, but something deeper. All my life I felt as if I was once some creature that was remarkable and beautiful. One name always popped in my head: Amori.

It was in Sixth Grade that I began to sketch this mental version of myself. As my drawings progressed, her life’s story came alive in my head. It was as if I had no control over it, and it was not as if I was making this all up, but as if it really happened and I was watching some mental movie staring the girl in my drawings.

My drawings improved, and Amori changed a lot throughout time, but there were the basics that remained the same: hawk wings that were black with red tips, black hair and black wolf-like ears, grey eyes, a black wolf tail, and her staff that was a long goldish silver color with a moon-like crescent on top as well as a green orb connected to the tip of the crescent.

The character came alive before my eyes and I found that as the years passed, I was more and more connected to her. I would imagine myself in her shoes, her name became my nickname amongst my friends, and I found myself referring to her as ‘my alter-ego’ more and more. Essentially Amori had become me, or was always a part of me.

My mother became worried about me. She always claimed I couldn’t decipher the line between fantasy and reality. This wasn’t true. Of course I knew that magic and elves and demons didn’t exist. But there was always that hope in my heart, that feeling deep inside that it wasn’t true, that everything magical and mystical was real.

So, I suppose I should tell you about Amori, because she is a key part in this story. Amori Takahashi was originally born Cassandra. She was born from the half-elf half-hawk queen, Marianna, and her husband, the wolf king, Alehandro. Together the two were the leaders of a beautiful capital city called Leore. Cassandra was the true princess to the thrown. On her 8th birthday, Cassie was sent to her mother's chambers after 5 strange men arrived to visit her father. Cassie waited in the room when suddenly shouts were heard from the lower floor. Her mother ran into the room and told her to hide under the bed. As Cassandra hid under the bed, Marianna ripped off her favorite necklace and slipped it under the bed just before two men broke down the door and ran into the room. Cassie watched in horror from her spot under the bed as her mother was stabbed and killed. When the coast was clear, she ran from the room and down to the laundry chute. At the base of the chute was a secret exit for the servants. Cassie ran into the nearby forest and stared on as her home, the castle, was set on fire and burned to the ground.

Cassandra was taken in, a few days later, by an old elf sage that raised her mother. She changed her name from Cassandra to Amori as a way to keep the murderers of her parents off of her trail, and to cut away her princess-hood. The sage would raise her as his own for the next 14 years and would teach her everything he knew of magic and spells. When the old elf died, he told her who had sent the men to kill her family. Amori set off in search of vengeance.

She had become an accomplished sorceress having harnessed and mastered her control over plants and earth as well as learned thousands of spells. It was much later in her life when she met Zeke Boyson. He became an important part of Amori’s life. Zeke was an ice dragon, which was rare to find since most dragon clans had been wiped out. He was often in his human form and he was a handsome man, and one night he was at a pub when he ran into the earth sorceress. They argued about nearly everything and he found her highly annoying. He then was glad when they parted ways but the separation didn’t last long. Their paths later crossed again when Amori was in a battle with another dragon. When Amori was injured, Zeke stepped in and saved her.

He traveled with her and they argued and bickered and fought, leaving both wondering many times why they continued to travel together. A few months later, a tall demon appeared claiming that Amori promised to marry him. In a fit of jealousy, Zeke killed the demon and realized his bond with Amori. After a few more months, he tried to confess his feelings, only to be interrupted by Amori. She kissed him and thus began their engagement.

Zeke had a goal similar to Amori’s: kill the one responsible for their misfortune. Most dragons were killed by a mysterious dragon named Vehire and Zeke’s family were some of those who died at his hands, er, claws. Eventually, Zeke caught word of Vehire’s hideout and Amori let him go, knowing how he felt being so close to avenging his family, and he vowed to return to her.

Amori traveled for a few more days alone, and when dusk came one night she looked to the horizon and saw, in horror, Zeke leaning against a tree making his way over to her, covered in blood. She ran to him, fear-struck and crying as she held him in her arms. There was a gaping hole in his chest, and one of his wings had been ripped off and he was dying.

Zeke smiled up at her, holding out his hand and setting it against her cheek. He told her he loved her, that he finally killed Vehire and that he’s sorry that he couldn’t aid her in her own revenge. Amori cried as Zeke’s life perished in her arms.

She hadn’t known it at the time, but she was pregnant with Zeke’s child. When she discovered the gift he gave her, she felt better and came to terms with the loss of her lover. Ezra was born nine months later and resembled his father in many ways.

After Ezra became an adult, he aided his mother where Zeke could not. Helping her accomplish the revenge that drove her so much. In the end, Amori had contracted a disease that was incurable and caused her much suffering. It was a long disease that ate you from the inside out and Amori knew that she would live much longer than a human would with this illness, but didn’t know how much longer she could bear it.

Ezra met the love of his life, a young human girl named Kailynn. Amori approved her son’s request to marry her and on their wedding day Amori gave Kailynn the necklace her mother had left with her. It was shortly after that when Amori took her own life. Tired of fighting the inevitable and suffering the painful side-affects of the illness. Ezra held his mother as she bled out, dying with a smile in his arms.

So there you have it. The tale of Amori from start to finish. Hopefully now the rest of my tale makes more sense to you.
