Roommates

Roommates

By Mimi Marciano

I hate roommates!

And I hate best friends!

How dare she take my mother’s locket without asking me, wear it on her one night stand, and then lose it!

I hate her!

I storm out of our little two bedroom apartment, my face as red as the car I’m getting into, and slam the door.

“Well if you’re going to be like that over a little accident, then you can find somewhere else to live!” She shouts from her bedroom window on the second story.

“Little accident? You lost my mother’s locket!” I scream back. “Maybe I will go live somewhere else!”

She pulls her head back inside and slams the window shut.

I grumble to myself as I go to start my little red Volkswagen beetle, determined to never speak to my “friend” again.

Then I pause, and sigh in agony.

Forgot my darn keys…
