hurricane
you
others shoot daggers with their eyes
but your smile can get away with murder.
people shy away from the insane and maniacal,
but you draw admirers that are the exception,
because you’re crazy beautiful.
you uproot certainty and shatter defences,
leaving desolation in your wake.
i
have a dream, no, had a dream
of leaving my walls crumbled
and your love letters on my mirror,
my secrets exposed to the world
(like my dirty laundry that I left in your room).
you leave a teasing scent of joy
and your cologne on my pillow.
now, I only dream of you.
us?
as we are swept up
by our hearts' desires
the dustpan and broom
reflect what is left of
fragile dreams: only fantasy novocaine;
after all, you're my hurricane.
a/n: resubmitted; edited the last verse. originally written after watching Hurricane on the Bayou, some time early last year.
