Cobalt Gown

by fabian Cortez

They shone so bright

My mind was dazzled

In heaven’s sumptuous gown

Of cobalt blue

Life’s entrancing gaze

Of comforting illusion

Is bypassed by wonders

Such as these.

Heartfelt words from

Paper-thin souls

Rampant with need to

Be re-assured of worth

They are spoon-fed; in

Guises all too attractive

To be ignored, then avarice

In sunburnt tones

Plays havoc in a game

One-sided in its want

So the fools hand

Stays empty of warmth

While in clutch of a

Partner void of anything

Left to give, as they

Have held needs

Grip so long it’s

Left them wanting

Yet cobalt blankets

Hue stays enriched,

To share a bounty

Warm or cold

Of beauty

Selfless

Vivacious

Magnificent
