The Seraph Dragon Chronicles (Information Sheet)

The World:

The main setting is the realm of Aganezzar; a vast, gigantic continent that spanned fifty percent of the world.

The land was mostly fertile grasslands that covered most of the eastern and central region of the realm. Forested areas spread out from the east to meet part of the central and northern region of the land while several mountain ranges stretched across the land like scars. To the west are mostly badlands, while further down south is where the desert stretched out across the land and spanned westward. The cold, tundra region finally covers half of the northern hemisphere.

Vast networks of rivers spread throughout the continent like veins, forming lakes and swamplands. A large inland sea was formed from the southwest that connects most of these river networks to the open ocean.

The Races:

In the Aganezzar realm, there lived five anthropomorphic races that had walked the earth for over millennia; the Nagas, the Canines, the Gryffans, the Felines, and the Dragons:

The Dragons:

The dominant species of the realm; consisting of sixty percent of the entire population. However, unlike the other races, they are divided into two subspecies, the Drakyne of the West and the Sey-Ryuu of the East.

The Drakynes is the larger of the two (average of 6’7 tall) and also the strongest. Their body design is similar to Western dragons; with a pair of leathery wings, tough scales, crests (or horns for some) on their reptilian head, and razor sharp claws. Some Drakynes also have horns on the tip of their snout. Their large size attributes to their superior strength and they are perhaps the strongest species to walk the realm.

The Sey-Ryuu, on the other hand, is the smallest of the lot (about 5’9 to 6’5 tall). Unlike their western counterparts, their body design is similar to those of Eastern dragons; with softer scales (barely visible), a pair of horns on their head, shorter claws and wingless. Besides those, they also have long, flowing hair that varies in color as well as a pair of whisker-like tendrils near their nostrils. Due to their smaller body design, they are generally weaker in strength, but this was compensated by their greater agility and speed.

Despite their difference in physique, they do share a common trait; the tip of their tail can either be normal, spear-shaped, or spiked (between two to three pairs of spikes).

The Nagas:

These nomadic, aquatic snake people lived in the coastal and swampland regions of the realm. They would prefer to spend most of their time in their underwater haven than on the surface, unless they had business to attend to with the other races (which they dubbed them ‘surface walkers’).

The Nagas mainly live in groups of approximately fifty and are constantly on the move. At times, different groups of nagas may collaborate together to aid one another, but they would never unite into a single group. Also, most Nagas seem to have a life-long grudge against the Sey-Ryuu dragons and this allowed the Drakynes to form a close alliance with these aquatic serpents.

The Gryffans:

The primitive Gryffans preferred living in the highlands and mountain regions of Aganezzar. Unlike the Nagas, these raptor-feline hybrids are more open to the other races and are willing to lend their aid to those who are in need of their assistance. They live in tribes by the hundreds and one may allow other fellow tribes to merge together.

However, despite their kind nature, they are constantly harassed and persecuted by the Drakynes who felt they are too weak to be in a league with the other races (and are often dubbed ‘feathered freaks’). As a result, some tribes had volunteered to help their Sey-Ryuu friends in their war against the Drakynes. Despite this ill-treatment, most of them preferred staying neutral with the two warring sides.

The Canines:

Unlike the Gryffans and the Nagas, the Canines are a much more civilized race and have their own civilization, situated in the northern hemisphere of the realm. Despite the on-going war, the Canines still maintained their trade activities with both the Drakynes and the Sey-Ryuu dragons, as well as with the Felines.

With their keen sense of smell, they make excellent bounty hunters and trackers. This trait can be easily exploited by both sides, especially when some Canines are willing to work as mercenaries. Despite these activities, the Canines would prefer to stay away from the war.

The Felines:

Just like the Canines, they are also a civilized race and their main city was situated in the southern desert region of the realm. They too engaged in trade with their canine counterparts and with the Dragons.

The Felines, with their superb agility and cunning skills, are natural born assassins and spies. Some may offer their professions to anyone who can afford them, especially the two warring dragon factions. Also, they prefer not to get involved with the war.

The Conflict:

The lush, beautiful realm of Aganezzar was, however, plagued by a war that was now called The Great Seraph War between the Sey-Ryuus and the Drakynes. Scholars believed the war started a million years ago and that the war involved one main concept; the Dragon’s strong belief in the Seraph, a being that was believed to be the genesis of all life in Aganezzar.

The Sey-Ryuus believed that the Seraph is a symbol of unity and leadership over all life in the realm. However, the Drakynes believed that the Seraph is an icon of power and conquest over all life in the realm. As long as these opposing beliefs exist between the two sides, this war will rage on…
