i sat in the center of the room
with the furnaces all turned down to their lowest
and it was then that i pulled out of my pocket
the electric blanket that you cut out in the shape of an organ.

so when the winter wind had settled
but i was still flying forward
i sent that thank you note to you via whisper
and just then the battery burnt my skin.

i waited for you to come out from under that blanket
to crawl out of my window and say it wasn't a problem
to tell me my thank yous were saved in a jar for a day you would need them
and that the wind had died down to a whisper.

it was at that time that the doors and windows all shut
and the lights burned brighter.
