Let me tell you a story about a family of a dad, a mom, and six noisy sisters (who were the kids.) The family was a very happy one. They had lots and lots of fun and

the sisters were always very noisy. That is very normal for sisters, but not for moms and dads. You see, their mom needed a rest for her poor tired ears.

On Monday, the six noisy sisters were playing happily in the basement. Mom was busily doing her sewing. She noticed the noise was loud, as usual, but then the walls

began to quiver and quake. Suddenly mom got up and in a panic ran to the basement only to find six noisy sisters all playing homemade musical instruments and having

the greatest time ever.

On Tuesday as mom was washing the dishes, she noticed that every time she put a dish on the shelf it began to vibrate from all the noise and would fall right off of

the shelf. “Now what are those six noisy girls up to?” she asked. She followed her ears to the noise and found six noisy sisters all merrily singing a different tune in the

living room while tap dancing on the wooden floor. “Beautiful noise,” she said and went back to finish the dishes.

On Wednesday while mom was mopping the floors, the local weather service called asking if there had been a tornado in the area. Mom replied, “No, but my six noisy

daughters have all been playing race cars around the house. Maybe the neighbors had heard that.”

Thursday was another typical day. Since mom was going to be practicing her painting techniques she suggested that the girls go into the big bedroom and make up

nice stories to tell each other. Pretty soon she noticed a small rumbling which became louder and louder and louder. Thinking there was an earthquake she ran to the

bedroom to rescue the six noisy girls. And there they were – all laughing so hard and loud that the house was shaking, the dishes were falling off the shelves, and the

neighbors were knocking, and the phone was ringing and “THIS SIMPLY MUST STOP!! My ears need a rest,” she exclaimed.

But the next day was just the same. Friday mom dusted the house and did the laundry. The girls decided to do some nice, peaceful, quiet activity to let mom’s ears

rest. They would play with blocks. In the middle of the house they built the most beautiful, fantastic, gigantic castle ever. As they put the last block on top – CRASH –

down it came. As the castle crashed to the floor – it crashed clear into the basement. What a racket there was. Mom fainted.

Saturday was mom’s birthday. Saturday morning the six lovely, noisy girls got up early and fixed breakfast for mom. Then they brought her a small package wrapped

in purple paper and tied with six blue bows. “Open it!” they all cried at the top of their voices. Mom opened it. In the package, she found a small pair of pretty pink

earplugs. “Ooh – just what I needed!” she said. She tried them on and they were a perfect fit. “Lovely, lovely silence. Beautiful peace and quiet,” she beamed. “This is

great.” Mom had a very quiet morning as she cleaned the cabinets. She did so enjoy the quiet. “Now I must check on my six sweet girls,” she thought. She went into the

living room and there they were all lying on the floor fast asleep.
