Your tears splash on his headstone,

Your tears splash on his headstone,

Now the Dad you loved is dead,

And you give in to exhaustion,

When you’re alone in your large bed.

You manage to survive,

Find a way to carry on,

And you learn to not feel guilty,

It’s what he wanted all along.

But when the day is through,

All reassurances been said,

You sob into your pillow,

“I’ll never ever forget.”

Years go by,

You’ve changed a lot,

Forgotten all about your past,

Because what’s not important now,

Is what you hide behind your mask.

You once dreamt of forever,

Wanted happiness and love,

And even though your fathers dead,

He’s still watching from above.

But you ignore his amazing memory,

The dreams soon begin to fade,

And only withered flowers remain,

Beside his rundown grave.
