My best friend

My best friend

My one and only friend

Was in love

Hopeless love

Not with the jock who was hott

Or the guy with the nice smile

Or the cute guy

Honest but vile

It was the guy

Who had the bronze hair

Struts through the school without any care

Whose glittering eyes no one can bare

Whose beauty was utterly unfair

Ah…sweet young love

But it has to go both ways

Her impossible dream

Makes my soul decay

I can only leave it up to fate

And hopefully then on a lucky date

The guy

Who had the bronze hair

Struts through the school without any care

Whose glittering eyes no one can bare

Whose beauty was utterly unfair

Will glance her way

And lighten her stormy clouds of grey

But to her dismay

She did not see that day

For she is nothing but ordinary

And so he broke her heart

Pieces scattered far apart

But I will be there

Be there for my best friend

Whose tears will fall on my shoulders

But my comfort will never end

She can be strong

Just like me

She can be brave

Just like me

She can get over the guy

Who had the bronze hair

Struts through the school without any care

Whose beauty was utterly unfair

Just like me

She can be sturdy

Just like me

She can be positive

Just like me

She can be all these things

Because she is me
