Hey, this is one of my first stories that I've written, I've been working on it for a good year now, and I'm pretty happy with where it's gone.
Now, there are somethings that I need to say here:
1)This started out as...I'm not quite sure but not this. I was more like thinking, what would happen in a Vampire's life. So thats how this started.
2)I enjoy the "real" reviews. The ones where people are like this sucked, this was crap, this was boring, and this was choppy. The real critisism. Those are always my favorite reviews (even though they reflect negatively against my story if you read the reviews, especailly for chapter one prior to major edit #1)
3)I love this story and I hope you do to! Kindly read it and review it! Thanks!
Hello my name is Elizabeth Martins and I drink blood.
Yes, I’m a vampire. No, I don’t burn in the sun. No, crosses don’t do anything for me. Yes, I have fangs, but they’re retractable, so they only come out when I’m feeding. No, holy water does nothing for me. No, silver doesn’t burn my flesh. Yes, I need blood to survive. No, I don’t sleep in a coffin (in fact, I don’t sleep at all). Yes, I have to go to a school for the first 100 years of my life. It’s where you learn how to live the way you are, meet other Vampires and eventually, find your mate. The place is called the Vampire Constitution. Yes, I know, very, very friendly. Not. I also go to human school. This year I’ll be a senior in high school. Again.
In my room at the shared house for all Vampire’s from age 50-99, I took a look at myself in the mirror while brushing my teeth. I didn’t need to brush my teeth, they were perfectly straight and completely white, startling white. Like, the white of those Orbit bubble gum commercials. Of course, the change does make your teeth whiter and much straighter, but it couldn’t do much for me.
Soon I was done with that and started combing my hair. It was beautiful, I loved my hair. It was a chestnut color, very beautiful and I could always do whatever I wanted with it. After doing a quick check in the mirror to make sure I looked nice in my shortish skirts and a white tank top with a shiny silvery ballet sweater, I was ready to go and meet with the other hundred or so of us bunking in this building.
Just a small piece of information: Vampire’s own about three square miles of land, and on there, Vampires without mates live, along with all the important people. In building one, you have Vampires that are 1 year old to 49, in building two, you have 50 to 99, building three, 100 to 199 and building four, everyone else. The main building (which is huge, bigger than a castle) has all the important people, like say, King Lucius and Prince Magnus (his incredibly hot son). And, once you have a matched pair you go to one of ten different areas and live in one of the houses there (the houses at those places, I’m told, are like town houses). Buildings one to three are sort of like single person dorm rooms, there is a bed, a couch, a book shelf, bathroom and other stuff in a dorm-sized room.
Walking out of my dorm-like room, I walked down the hall, saying hi to my friends on the floor.
Hanging out in the floor’s common room for a bit, I decided I’d read another classic. Before I could get too deep into the novel, I glanced at the clock. It was almost time to go to the bus stop and wait for school. I better get going.
As I walked to the bus, I could hear people inside their houses also getting ready to get to the bus.
After about five minutes after I got to the bus stop, everyone was there. Even though I’m one hundred, I still can’t help but get distracted by all the blood running through their bodies, just under the surface. Surly, they wouldn’t mind I simply pricked there skin and had a taste? No. You can not, not unless you have a death wish.
I also may be one hundred years old, but when I taste fresh human blood, especially after a Vamp Constitution night, I am not in complete control over the thirst.
But all that blood! Look at that pulse!
My mouth was watering just thinking about. I could feel my muscles going into attack ! Do not! You’ll kill yourself if you do!
But it is never enough. I am always in attack mode, except for when I’m with fellow vampires.
Finally the bus had arrived. It stopped at a few more places picking up a few more blood carriers. No, not blood carriers, people. Picking up more people.
Eventually we reached school and I was able to meet up with some fellow Vampires. We always stuck together. Of course, for the sake of the charade, we couldn’t be at the same bus stop so we have to walk longer distances or run, in our case. But we all were the same.
"So, Elizabeth, what’s up? How’s the pull treating you?" This remark was from Brian, the most annoying of the group.
I just glared in his direction. He had no idea how hard it was for me. He was able to go to a privet school, have privet classes. Nothing was close to how I felt every day.
"Ignoring the loser next to us. Elizabeth, how do you think you’re going to do on the history test?" Jacob said this. He could see the future. Of course it was a rhetorical question, but I always replied the same thing.
"I don’t know. What will I get on that history test?"
"Hmm. Hold on a second. Ah! A one hundred percent with none wrong! Oh how amazing this girl is! Hundreds on absolutely everything!" By this point we’re all laughing and people start looking at us weird, but we don’t notice. How could we?
"You guys, we better get to class. We don’t want the Ogre yelling at us for coming three minutes before the bell when really we should be there at least five minutes before," said my closest friend, Noni. We all started laughing again.
We all dressed the same: in black. Yet, we didn’t act at all like people thought we should, but that was fine.
We headed up the stairs, passing many blood carries (People!). A couple of them said hi to me, but I could only see the pulse going by in their throats, precious, precious blood flowing through.
By the time we were all unpacked we were in homeroom six minutes early. Not too bad for us. We only went a tiny bit faster than the normal human…
When we got there, Miss. O’Green had an announcement. I’d catch it later. But it didn’t really matter. All I could see was the blood pulsing through her body. I could actually hear her heart beating. Oh how hard it was for me not to chew her up right there and expose all vampires.
But I managed. Barely, but I did. And of course, Noni helped me with the after effects of such moments with me.
Time for first period. I had English with Mr. McArdle. Okay teacher. Not the best, but I liked him. Of course, I was his favorite student because I knew all the books he ever talked about (having read them about fifty times). During the Reading Minute, it was Tim Smitton’s turn. He was the guy I dated last. Oh how fresh and warm his blood would taste! He surely wouldn’t complain if I took him back, trapped him in an empty classroom and drank a little bit, would he?No, I must control myself! What were those thirty years of blood control for? Why can’t you control it? Today is no different than any other day! Control it or your will get killed!
Thankfully, today we would be watching a movie. Not much better, but its something. At least I couldn’t hear their blood pulsing through their body. At least I couldn’t really see the blood going through the veins in their neck. And because movies always changed, I actually have to pay attention and sometimes (gasp) study for the pop quizzes every teacher gave the next day.
Thankfully the bell rang. It was now time for Italian. An easy class. After all, I’ve been taking it for twenty years! And according to the teacher, I’m a natural. Of course, perhaps living in Italy for a few years helped.
Today we had a test though. Of course, this was like taking a two-year-old English test, but I still had trouble with everyone thinking the same thing. But of course, I could tell I aced it. Just like always.
After that I had advanced algebra. The class was too easy and boring. But I survived. Of course, I was able to keep my mind focused on taking everything in slow motion (for vampires) and that took up most of my time.
By the time we had American History (aka snore fest. After all, what we’re studying was current events for me). We were studying the depression. It was a very hard time for both vampires and humans. But of course, I had other stuff I had to do in that class, like say, studying Vampire American History.
Well, I won’t go explaining that because then I’d have to write a whole history book and I do not think the world needs another one of those…
Finally it was lunch. Everyday, instead of going to the cafeteria, we (the vamps in all grades) go to the library or the only vampire teacher in the school. Yeah, he can’t stay in any place long, really only as long as we can stay in the school, but we stick together as a group, though every once in a while we do have to split up.
"So, how was that Italian test I hear you had to take?" Bryanne asked this. She was a quiet girl who loved to write and draw. She really was a great artist and had written many graphic novels, but because her picture would always be the same and people would eventually be able to connect one and one together so she couldn’t publish them. She just gives them to us to read and I have to say, they are exceptionally good. It’s very sad to know she can not publish them.
"Fine," I replied back. "Hey, Jacob, what did I get on it?"
"Um…. You got a…98. Pressure getting to you head again?"
"Eh. It was probably something true in Italy that is thought of as untrue here. But that’s still good," I replied.
A lot of times we just sat around, having nothing really to talk about. We weren’t in the same Vampire Constitution group, weren’t even going to be considered as matches (well, except for Brian and me but they wouldn’t even consider us together, so even that’s not true). The only thing we have in common here is what we are. Or rather, wear we came from. But we were great together. We stuck together and could always have a good laugh about everything.
Eventually the bell rang and we had to head to class. Fifth period I had science. Noni was also in my class so she helped me a lot when I kept starring at the vein pulsing through Mr. Markson’s neck. And of course, I was, through the entire class, in predator mode. As usual.
Finally it was time for Study Hall, the one and only class where I could concentrate on books, not veins.
For study hall, I never read the textbooks. I didn’t need them. I’ve already memorized them so why should I bother? No, instead I read Vampire books. Yes, I’ve read every Dracula made, and none of them are at all like us. But I also read other Vampire books, trying to see what people think vampires are, what our culture is, pretty much everything. I spend all my time reading them. I’ve also read whole textbooks just on what, "real," Vampires are like. Of course, only a tiny bit of it is true, and luckily, they aren’t right on the important stuff.
But that, of course, couldn’t last and so it was time for band. The pieces I was playing were boring, had no challenge and I’d already played them in bands a hundred times better.
But finally, that too stopped and school was out.
It was time to hunt.
I got off the bus at my usual place, went to my home for a bit. After everyone had returned, we all headed out.
We drove for a long time, taking the day off of the Vampire Constitution. Eventually, we ended in New York City. The city that never sleeps. The city where a few bits in unusual places on guys after going to a night club is not thought of as strange.
We parked many blocks away from the club we were planning on going to, taking only ten minutes to get to the club. Everyone was dancing and everyone was so close. The blood carriers had the life blood running hot threw their veins, beating faster and faster as I went into attack mode.
I could feel my face shift slightly, change to an extravagant, hot chick, the clothes matching the mood (a short skirt and a tight, baby doll shirt matched with high heel flip flops). I started dancing with a random guy. I wasn’t even paying attention to what he looked like, only the sweet liquid inside him.
I could feel him pulling me away, pulling me out of club. The sooner I could feed, the better.
We quickly went to the back seat of his car, with his tinted windows. We kissed passionately, and i remember the sweet blood coming out of his bites in the many places i slightly bit him (nothing to serious...these had to stop bleeding soon), the sweetness of getting life restored to me momentarily, the love we both felt each other. There, we both had the time of our lives for completely different reasons.
Of course, soon it had to end and I had to walk to the car and wait for everyone else to finish with his or her night.
It wasn’t long before I could see the others coming. They quickly got in and we drove away from the city that never slept, all fed, all having another dirty secret to carry.
What did you think of it? And PLEASE be honest. I can't stress that enough. Don't worry about my feelings. Pretend I'm someone you HATE and want to pop the ego bubble that I have (unfortunatly) gotten. Please? Come on, it's a big bubble in your face and you have a VERY pointed needle in your hand. What do you do? Pop the bubble or let it continue squishing you so you can't get your own bubble blown! :P:P
So, honest reviews=awesome. Well, any reviews=awesome. Thanks for reading it and I hope that you enjoyed it! Thanks ahead of time for reviewing!
