I was always a loner. Not because I wasn’t liked; I chose this path. I guess I never really needy to have others in my company in order to feel content with myself. Today was going to be a very…interesting day.

I was about to start High School. No matter how old you get, you always seem to feel so young, and getting out of Jr. High helped a bit, but not completely.

“Lets go , Madeline! You’re gonna be late!”

“Coming mom! Give me a minute or two!” I was just finishing up my make up, hey , just because I was a loner, doesn’t mean I need to look my worst. I pushed back my dark-brown hair back, staring back into the dark eyes that belonged to me….what am I going to do with you? I asked myself this question for what seemed like everyday. A lot of the times in my life, I didn’t know who I was, sometimes I wasn’t even sure if I wanted the answer to that question. I fixed the smeared black liner, touched-up the chocolate colored lipstick and quickly ran down stairs to meet my mom in the garage.

Before getting into the car I straightened my black skirt, and tight ‘Avenged Sevenfold’ tank.

“Don’t you think that skirts a bit too short? And, Sweety, the top makes you look like you work at Hooters.” Mom was always ready to critisize when it came to me, never herself.

I pulled out my black zip-up hoodie and zipped it on, “There, happy ? Is the world a better place now, hm?” Your average parent might take surprise to this type of reaction, but not my mom, we were used to this…it was routine for us.

“Yes, as a matter of fact, it is. “ With that we drove off into the sunrise, happily ever after. Yeah right.

I plugged in my ear phones, completely tunning out her ridiculous music and annoying argument voice. We finally arrived, but she held me back, “ Why must you always have a attitude with me, Maddy?”

“ Hm, Mom, I wonder. Could it be because you reffered to me as a Hooters Slut? Or what was it the last time? A prostitute? “

Silence, “Yeah, that’s what I thought. I’ll walk home today.”

I jumped out of the car before she had a chance to reply, not even looking back for just a second. I’d probably be crying now if I wasn’t so used to this, like I said, it was routine for us.

I was about half an hour early, bell was going to ring at eight. Now what should I do….

Lots of people were already here. There were people everywhere, I’m not even exaggerating.

As I explored the campus, trying to find my classes so I didn’t get lost, I felt eyes following me….everywhere, from every direction. It was probably one of the most uncomfortable things I had ever done. After about ten minutes, I found all my classes, except one: History. I glanced at the map, I knew where I was, just not where this building was. I walked back and forth for what seemed like hours, but was only five minutes. It was my first class, I had decided to look for it last because it was on the other side of where I was, big mistake.

“Hey, you need help? You look lost.”

I turned around to find a girl with short black hair, blue eyes, dark make-up. She was wearing long jeans with a studded belt and a black and red Three Days Grace hoodie. She was probably a sophomore or junior.

“Hi, I’m Andrea. But call me Andy.” Her hand extended out toward me, I took it.

“Madeline. And you’re right, I am lost. I can’t seem to find F building, it’s where my history class is. If you could just point me in the direction, I’d really appreciate it.”

“ Sure, hell, I’ll walk ya there .” She was so nice, and really helpful.

“OH, no, I don’t want to be a bother. You shouldn’t have to walk all the way there with me.”

“No big, I need to go there anyways, it’s my first class of the day. Com’on.”

I followed her and realized we were heading in the direction I had just came from. At least I had been in the right area.

“Here we are.” On the walk here, her and I had become more aquainted with each other.

“Thank you so much! I never would have found this place! “

She laughed, “No problem, so I’m guessing you’re a freshmen or a transfer student?”

“Freshmen.” I answered.

“Ah, I see. Well, I guess we better get to our classes,” She started to turn, the bell had just rung,” Do you have anyone to hang with during lunch?”

“uh, No. I don’t. “

“ Well, how about I meet you here and then I’ll introduce you to some friends. Alright?”

Wow, I couldn’t believe how nice she was, I told her I’d defiantly be there….but I felt terrible, I knew I wouldn’t be here when she came or waited. I felt horrible, but this is who I was, a loner. We said good bye and I headed into the building. As I continued on, it felt hot, so I took off my hoodie.

I hope dress code isn’t too strict here., I thought to myself when suddenly someone swiped my jacket away from me.

“Hey!” I shouted.

I looked back to find some guy holding it, smirking. He was the athletic type, tall, masculine, and pretty hot with his blond hair and dark blue eyes.

“Oh, sorry, is this yours?”

“Yeah, now can I have it back?” I tried to take it back , he only held it higher. I was only 5’5, he was about 6’3 or so. Damn this sucked.

“I like it, where’d you get it from? “ He kept taunting me, knowing how annoyed I was getting.

“ None of the dumbass stores you go to, asshole.” I guess I was trying to piss him off, I wasn’t in the best of my moods.

“Ouch, that hurts. Anyways, what grade you in?”

“I’m a freshmen, now give me my jacket back and leave me be.”

He looked at me, a little surprised that I was a freshmen,9th grader.

“You sure don’t look like a 14 year old-”

“ Well, I am, now can we move one” I interrupted him.

“Wait, do you know how old I am? “

GOD! What a stupid ass question!

“ I don’t know, twelve?”

“I’m a junior, so show me some respect.” He was starting to look annoyed.

“Yeah, sure. “ I grabbed my jacket back, “Thanks.”

“See you soon, Freshie!” He yelled after me.

I hate those kinds of guys! They were so irritating.

I went to my classes. Periods 1 & 2, then recess, then periods 2 & 3, it was now lunch. I walked around, looking for a place to sit and read. I looked to my left, a big tree stood, surrounded by healthy green grass and a huge group of kids. All wearing black and other dark colors. They had music blasting, really good songs from bands like: AC/DC, Guns ‘N Roses, My Chemical Romance, the Misfits, Metallica. Just really great stuff. Some of them were hugging, some playing around, laughing, people making out, they were basically just having fun, being themselves. I looked across from them, on the right of me, not too far from them, was a bench. Surprisingly enough, no one was there. So I went over and sat down, took out my book, started reading. But the group of people by the tree were making that difficult. It was so much fun watching them, they were just so laid back and well, fun.

Then, out of no where, someone sits next me. It was the jerk from earlier.

“ Hey there, Freshy.” He looked at me, then his eyes traveled down towards my breast. Naturally, I got annoyed, so I zipped up my hoodie.

“What do you want?” He could tell I was getting sick of him, he looked behind him. I hadn’t noticed there were four other guys with him, they all surrounded me, sitting in front, to the side, and in back of me. I started to feel nervous. All four guys stood at around 6 feet tall, all pretty buff.

“Just to talk. So,” He took the schedule out of my pocket,” Madeline White, you single?”

“Sorry, I’m gay, you know, a lesbian.”I lied, I didn’t care about my reputation, I just wanted him gone.

“That’s not what Danny says.” Immediately I felt my eyes cloud up. I hated this guy for bringing him up, hated him so much, “ Fuck you.”

I picked up my things, and got up .

“ Where you going, Baby? “ He yanked my around, and pulled me against him. “Come one, lets have some fun.” He pressed his lips roughly against mine, without thinking I slapped him hard across the face, felt my nails swiftly dig into his skin. I looked at him, staring at the scratches I left on his cheek, at the red imprint on his skin. He looked back at me, angry, yet excited. Like it was a turn on for him. He was to say something when, “ Wow, Zach. As if getting turned down by girls wasn’t enough, now you need to be bitch slapped?”

“Fuck you, Black. “

“Ooh, sorry Zach, I’m straight. But I could probably hook you up with another guy, if that’s the way you like ‘em.” Retorted the boy.

“Mind your own business, Goth.”

“Well, she is my business, she’s supposed to be over there with us.”

“Says who? “ He asked.

“Says me. Now, “ He took my arm,” If you’ll just move aside, we’ll just-”

“No, you’re not going anywhere-”

Suddenly, a woman walked over to us, holding a clipboard,” Is there a problem here boys?”

“No,” the boy answered, ”Of course not, Ms. Quintson. We were just leaving.”

Zach and his ‘posse’ just walked away, and so did the teacher.

“By the way, my names Ethan Black.”
