Dark Moon
Chapter 1
This was a very small town, and nothing exciting ever happened here. So when Aryanna Valdis arrives she turns things comepletely upside down. But as the Dark Moon approaches and more of her kind come, things get deadly.
This was a very small town, so nothing exciting ever happened here. Everybody was normal and everybody blended in. That's why it was such a shock when she arrived. That's why it knocked the whole town out of its normal routine. That's why strange things started happening here. And that's also why more people like her started showing up.
It started out like every single Monday. All the kids went to school, day-working adults went to work, and all the other Monday stuff went on. Nobody thought that everything was going to get turned upside down. In fact, nobody even knew she was coming.
Our teacher was just in the middle of a lecture when she walked in. She was extremely gorgeous. Even more so than the most beautiful model on the whole planet probably. Her white blond hair flowed to the middle of her back and her skin looked like ivory. As she spoke her blue and silver eyes sparkled, her voice sounded smooth and satin-like. Almost like a song.
"Excuse me for interrupting. I'm the new student, is this Mr. Jefferson's third period English class?" She asked. Mr. Jefferson blinked in surprise, shock, and awe. All of us were silent as we stared at the beautiful girl.
"Y-Yes, it is." He finally stammered. "I'm Mr. J-J-Jefferson. You can take a seat next to Heather, Miss..." Mr. Jefferson trailed off.
"Aryanna Valdis." She finished. I stiffened in my seat when he said my name. Aryanna turned her gaze to the class and I raised a tentative hand to beckon her over. Almost instantly she was in the seat beside me.
"Hello Heather." Aryanna's face had high cheekbones and prominent red lips. Her eyes were almost hypnotic as she smiled a dazzling smile at me. "Nice to meet you."
"Yes, nice to meet you too." I said in a flat voice, my throat had gone dry. She was so beautiful. Aryanna smiled again before turning to face Mr. Jefferson because he had begun his lecture again.
After lunch my friend Lauren sat across from me and looked me straight in the eye.
"Spill." She demanded.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, completely confused.
"Aryanna, duh!" Lauren explained. "She's the buzz of the school and sat next to you in English, or so I hear?" She eyed me doubtfully.
"Yes, that's true." I replied, feeling uneasy under her critical gaze.
Lauren was a nice friend, although very critical. She was about as pretty as people normally are around here and I was as plain as plain could be. I had straight black hair, a plain face, normal brown eyes, and a normal weight. She, on the other hand, had dazzling green eyes, wavy bright red hair that framed her heart-shaped face, and was very skinny.
She sniffed indignantly and started picking at the disgusting school meal. I sighed and started eating what looked like lasagna. Then I heard a clackand looked up to see Aryanna sitting next to me, with her own tray of food, and flashing another smile. Lauren's head snapped up and her eyes locked on Aryanna.
"Hello again." Aryanna said in her melodious voice. "What's your name?" She asked Lauren.
"L-Lauren." She mumbled, completely caught off guard.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Aryanna."
We were all silent.
"How do you like it here?" Lauren said, finally breaking the awkward silence.
"It's very nice, and everyone here is so enjoyable." Aryanna told her. "So very peaceful." I nodded and took another bite of the so-called-lasagna.
The rest of the day passed very quickly. Every single class I had with her, Aryanna sat next to me. And since Lauren was in most of my classes, I kept catching her sending glares in my direction. I was relieved when the last bell rang and school was over for the day.
To my dismay, Aryanna was standing by my locker. She seemed completely unaware by the stares that every single boy was giving her, and every single awe and jealous filled glare the girls were sending her. As I walked slowly toward my locker she called my name and I could feel all eyes on me as I gulped and walked the rest of the way toward her.
"I went to the office to get my locker assigned to me, because somehow they forgot. So I was looking at the locker assignments and it turns out my locker is right next to yours!" She bubbled excitedly.
I nodded, too shy to say anything, and opened my locker. Quickly, I shoved my things into my backpack before slamming shut the metal door and slinging my backpack on my shoulder.
Aryanna walked with me outside, babbling on about how much she loves her new life here. I was glad when she had to go find her parents to go home. So I waved good bye before finding my bus and settling down for the ride home.
I sighed and closed my eyes. As I let my mind wander, I was only sure of a few things.
1. Today was not normal.
2. Lauren (and probably most other girls) was mad at me.
3. And that there was definitely something strange about Aryanna
