I didn’t know what to do really
I didn’t know what to do really. Mattie was effortlessly gorgeous. He had dark brown hair, with a side fringe that always seemed to fall into his eyes and annoyed him because he was always pushing it back. He was tall, he was nearly six foot, and I was just over five foot five. He had startling green eyes that stood out the most from him. Although, Mattie didn’t seem to realise he was completely gorgeous. We walked back to the hotel together just in time for dinner. The evening meal was buffet style which I was glad about because I was an incredibly fussy eater.
Later on, Mattie and Chris came into our room to sit as there was nothing better to do. Mattie lay back on my bed talking to Chris about football whist Jade and I flicked through ‘Heat’ magazine pointing out celebrities we didn’t like. Mattie’s fringe kept falling into his eyes and it began to annoy me to a point where I stood up and flopped onto my bed and pushed it back. I was straddling him and as I brought my hand back down he held my gaze for a little over five seconds. I blushed and looked away and my stomach was doing that flippy thing. I ignored it and went back to sit with Jade. At eleven o’clock-lights out the boys returned to their own room.
“Oh my god Mandie! It’s so obvious-Mattie likes you!”
Jade exclaimed as she climbed into bed. I nodded and flicked the switch on the lamp. I lay on my back staring at the ceiling. Did I like Mattie? I was severely confused, I could imagine kissing him but never anything more. He was my friend, but maybe I longed for something else. Or maybe, it was entirely him?
The next morning, we were going to ‘Nou Camp’-the infamous football Stadium. I thought back to my dad telling me to get pictures of it-he wasn’t paying three hundred quid for nothing. I chuckled at this as I walked downstairs to breakfast.
We got on the bus and I sat next to Mattie. Jade and Chris sat behind us and Jade kept prodding me in the back and winking. I got really irritated by this eventually and told her to stop it. I couldn’t be bothered with the tour to Nou Camp so I stuck my green earphones into my ipod to make it look as though I WAS listening.
Eventually, after a perpetual journey through the streets of Barcelona we got off the bus and to Nou Camp Stadium. Chris and Mattie were mesmerised by it’s vastness.
We were dragged through the stadium accompanied by a trilingual tour. (Spanish, Catalan and English) However, the tour guide didn’t seem to realise there were no Catalan or Spanish speakers in the tour. I pretty much gave up until they took us out to see the actual stadium. Although I was NOT a football fan, the sight was absolutely breathtaking. I got my digital camera out and started clicking away. If my dad could see this he would probably be in ‘el Hospital’ due to heart failure or something. I could just imagine him being carted off in a stretcher…
“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Mattie said as he stood on one of the stairs-still awestruck.
“Yeah, I suppose.” I said. I really wanted to get to the gift shop to buy my dad something. We got there and I bought him a poster that advertised “Ranger V Barcelona” because my dad is an avid Rangers supporter. For the next half of the day-we were off to the Zoo. To be completely, utterly honest-I hated zoos. I hated seeing animals caged up and in this heat! However, my mood was lifted a little when we saw a black bear. He was GORGEOUS! He looked absolutely roasting though and like he was about to keel over. “Tired son?” Chris shouted and Jade and I laughed like hyenas-who were coincidentally in the next exhibit.
We got back onto a bus to put up with another tour-but this time Mattie had Italian in one ear and German in the other so I had the same. Tomorrow however-we wouldn’t have to endure another few hours of torture-we were off to Port Aventura.
We would be getting the train from Barcelona to Port Aventura and that would take around an hour-so we got up at eight o’clock had breakfast, got dressed and left to get the train at nine.
Barcelona-Sants was horrendously busy with all the commuters going to work but we got to our train eventually. The train journey took just over an hour and we were eventually there. It took around 10 minutes to walk up to the actual park-we thought we would never get there. We were pleasantly surprised when we were greeted with a huge fountain that played music. When we got into the park-it resembled a Mediterranean village. It didn’t look like a theme park. Jade, Chris, Mattie and I went off together. The first ride we queued up for was the “Furios Baco” that accelerated when it began. My knickers were quite literally full of excrement. We got on and sat in our chairs and off the ride went. It was brilliant! My hair looked like a birds nest when we got off.
I didn’t want the day to end. We went on another ride called “El Templo del Fuego”. That was pretty scary. There was fire and everything involved. When the fire came out I juped and grabbed Mattie's hand.He looked at me, right into my eyes and I did the same.At that moment I knew-I had definitely fallen for him.It was time to go and things between Mattie and I were...weird.
The train was so busy that Mattie, Chris, Jade and I ended up sitting in the luggage racks. Everyone else was scattered about the train. When we got off the train-we discovered. We were completely lost.
