Author: me. moi. ich First of all, knowing fictionpress, the title of this poem will be missing necessary brackets-- so no, my spelling isn't wrong, just envision brackets around both of the "e"s in Minuete. As for what this poem is about, I just really couldn't sleep...

Unplugged for a Minu(e)t(e)
Sometimes I just wish I could turn my brain off,
Close myself off from the incessant pacing of thoughts―
Back and forth and back and forth, across the inside of my skull,
Tirelessly marching out a beat in unfaltering four-four time
(When my already syncopated mind is begging for a rest.)
Mad conductor, please slow this train down!
Let me waltz into a dream, or better yet, pause in silence!
A moment of respect for Sleep, too often ignored
Because your soldiers have no time for― "MARCH!"
Left.
Left.
Left, right, left…
