A mother sings to her child,

The donkey shares its manger,

Though He knows her voice well.

And while she sleeps,

Her child rules the world.

And we bow down and praise Him,

Because of the empty crib.

The mockers shout at the High King,

And those who care, slip away.

Now “it is finished”.

And because He rises,

The whole world will know His love.

Life feels dark and hollow.

The world is cruel and gone.

I slip and fall away,

But God will always be there,

To lift me up again.
