My innate soul is captured in the midst of a melancholy society
Gone corrupt by the flawless plastic faces,
Plastered on our billboards
Living in our magazines.
Is this society in which I dwell too superficial,
To even realize that everyone is
Simply ravishing, delightfully beauteous and handsome?
Who was it that declared the unspoken law,
That beauty must be artificial?
Why do we surrender to our aesthetic tastes?
Why about our fashion tastes are we so pompous?
Why to this injustice are we blind?
Why don’t we refuse to succumb to others’ closed minds,
That fail to interpret the true splendor of everyone around us?
Why, I ponder as I stare out my darkened window,
Can’t we be happy with what we are?
I am positive it would be a splendid contrast to the somber copies that we are
That drearily live an uneventful pattern under what overshadows.
We the people of this place called Earth,
In order to form a world of tranquility,
Found Stability,
Insure unrequited allegiance,
Provide for the grotesque people,
Promote originality,
And secure the splendor of the world to ourselves and our prosperity,
do ordain and declare that we must find the strength and character to discovery
Beauty.
