Elegantly dressed in a knee-length denim skirt and a red tube top with a black denim jacket, I was daintily seated on a chair in a well-known four-star restaurant, waiting for my late-as-ever boyfriend.
I was busy thinking to myself with my head resting on my left hand when he walked in. His hair was ruffled so that meant that he probably ran going to the resto.
“I'm sorry I'm late,” he apologized but I rolled my eyes, to tease him.
“Yeah, but if you came in any later I would've broken up with you,” I teased, hiding back my smirk.
There was silence as he eyed me carefully, seeing if I really meant what I said or not.
“Hey, I'm only kidding!” I giggled. He looks really cute when he's serious.
He replied with silence.
“You know, you're really cute when you get serious like that,” I told him in a cute voice to cheer him up.
He looked up at me and gave me a smile.
“We should have our orders taken now,” he told me as a waiter approached our table.
I nodded and unfolded my menu. On the menu were several exquisite dishes. I had a trouble in picking out which one to order.
“We'll be having ½ stuffed turkey,” he told the waiter. “And some sweet ham.”
I felt warmth spreading up my chest when I heard him mention one of my favorite dishes.
“Your drinks?” the waiter asked.
“Sparkling Grape Juice, please,” I told the waiter and he took it down.
“I'll have that as well,” Victor told the waiter.
“Very well, your order will arrive in 15 minutes. We apologize for the wait,” the waiter bowed courteously and headed for the counter.
“Happy Monthsary,” I told him as I reached for his hand which was placed on the table.
“To you as well. I got you something,” he told me and reached into the pockets of his brown jacket.
He took out a long slender blue box with a white ribbon holding the cover and the box together.
He handed it to me, and I opened it.
Inside was a shining silver necklace with a moon pendant encrusted with diamonds.
“Thank you!” I thanked him and gave him a light hug.
“Allow me to put it on for you,” he said an stood up.
He took the silver lace into his hand and put it around my neck. The coolness of the metal touching my neck.
“I'm sorry but I haven't gotten anything for you,” I apologized sadly, realizing I forgot to buy a gift for him.
“It's alright. Your happiness is what counts,” he smiled kindly.
“Hmph. My Vicky is so stubborn...” I told myself out loud and ruffled his silky black hair.
“No matter how many times I tell him not to buy all these expensive gifts for me, he just doesn't listens...” I added.
“The next time he presents me with another expensive present, I am ignoring him for a week. No, make that a month,” I said, counting on my fingers.
“You can't be serious,” he said in exasperation.
“Watch me. But then, seeing that this is our third monthsary and all the gifts you've given so far have had me contented, I can't,” I laughed.
“So you do like the presents,” he chuckled.
“Do I have any reason not to?” I asked, raising an eyebrow as I sat down.
“I don't think so,” he gulped.
How predictable.
“You know, back there in school, Vicky, many people have been questioning me about what it's like to date a college student,” I told him, resting my head on my hand and looking at him as I did.
“Really? I didn't know my girlfriend could gain popularity just by dating me,” he said with an air of pride.
“Oh, don't be so conceited,” I waved my hand at him.
“Your order sir, maam,” the waiter told the both of us and began placing the exquisite meals on the table.
Once the table was all set, complete with the sparkling juice, we said our prayers and began to eat.
“The food here tastes great,” I commented after swallowing a small quantity of ham.
“It's because your radiance shines upon the meal and makes it more enjoyable,” he told me.
I wanted to stifle a giggle but it went out.
“You're being too romantic for my taste,” I told him, laughing a bit.
Once the meal was finished and the half bottle of sparkling grape juice drank, Victor helped me up from my seat. I took out a few thousand bills and placed them on the table. We thanked them for the wonderful meal and left to watch a movie.
We both chose a horror movie, The Missed Call. He paid for the tickets, drinks, and popcorn.
We then headed inside the cold movie house.
The trailer previews were already on-going when we entered and took our seats on the higher half of the cinema.
After a while, the movie started and the spine-chilling music began.
Both of us didn't really find it frightening but I would clutch his hand tightly if the suspense music would come up. We both kept silent during the parts where many people screamed.
The movie was over and we went out hand-in-hand.
“Thank you for the wonderful day, Victor,” I told him, giving him a soft smile and a chaste kiss on the cheek.
“I enjoyed it very much as well,” he said and we continued to sit on a random bench, in a secluded area.
“Thank you for taking your time away from your studies, Vic,” I spoke and gave him another soft smile.
“Very soon, I will be with you,” I added and leaned my head on his shoulder.
He just nodded.
And this concluded our date.
