Spirited Wings Beach Party

It was a end-of-the-school-year beach party for the high school students. Many of them have been invited but not all managed to come due to some unavoidable circumstances.

Among the students who were able to come were Miyuki, Yukiko, Miya, Miyuri, Merikuri, Victor, Mary, Steven, Alex, David, Gideon, John, Lou, Timothy, Francis, Kim, Charles and Earl.

Mary was busy flirting with the third year boys in her bikini while Joh was chasing Timothy by the waves. Yukiko was listening in the shade to her iPod and Miya was watching Miyuki play on her laptop. Victor was playing Pokemon Diamond on Miyuki's DS with Merikuri and Charles hovering over his shoulder, watching him play cluelessly. Miyuri was building a sand castle in the shade close to where Yukiko was sitting. Lou was swimming off with Francis in a rubber tube.

“Hey, Miyuki, how do I do this?” Victor asked.

Miyuki looked up from her laptop and walked over to where Victor was sitting. She took the device from his hand and pressed a few buttons and the touch screen. Then she handed it back to him.

“Thanks,” he said as she returned to her laptop.

“Hey, Miyuki-chan, let's swim!” Miya told her as she returned from the sea shore.

“No thanks. It's too hot,” Miyuki replied while shielding her eyes from the imaginary rays of the sun. “Plus, there's no way I'm showing off my body to HIM,” she added, looking back at he laptop after stealing a glance at Victor who was sitting with his back hunched.

“Aww...then let's wait till it cools down,” Miya whined.

Miya then watched David aiming the volleyball at Mary's head.

“Damn...shouldn't people dress decently?” Miyuri complained all of a sudden, gaining a little attention.

“Yeah, better wear something on top of those morbid articles,” Yukiko muttered, also looking at Mary running on the sand wearing her bikini.

“What time is it, anyway?” Miyuri asked, glancing at Miyuki's laptop's clock.

“It's 9:38am,” Miyuki replied, not looking up from the laptop screen.

Hours later...Lunch Time

Most of the students were drooling at the table. Obviously, they were really hungry from three hours worth of swimming, or, put in the others' cases, gaming.

On the table lay the most majestic feast fit for a king. There was lechon, kinilaw, spaghetti and cake, to name a few.

“Dig in, everyone!” Miyuki announced, being the hostess of the party.

Everyone then began eating excitedly, forming lines here and there to get one kind of food and another.

For entertainment, they had a MagicSing console put up with a TV in front of the 'hut'. Some guys then began singing. Steven sang an emo song while David sang the song 'Gaston' from Beauty and the Beast.

After they finished eating, some of them distanced from the water for a while before returning to the sea. Some remained to sing on the MagicSing while some continued gaming.

“Alright! To add to the fun, we shall elect a 'couple' to sing a duet. This should be entertaining,” Miyuki announced on the MagicSing microphone.

“So our first couple is...” Miya said as people began shouting names. “John and Lou.”

People then began clapping their hands as John and Lou stepped in front.

Lou was wearing a red t-shirt over her swimsuit and short denim shorts. John was half-naked with only his swimming trunks on.

Miyuki and Miya each handed them a microphone respectively and the song began to play. The song was entitled 'You are the Music in Me'.

When the song ended, everyone gave a round of applause as John gave Lou a kiss on the cheek. Some were even howling. The numbers '9' and '5' flashed on the screen.

“Next we have...” Miya said once more. “Mary and Steven!”

Mary flirtatiously took Steven's hand and led him to the front. The music then began to play. It was entitled 'Look Away'.

While they were singing, countless students shouted 'boo' at Mary's singing and rejoiced when it was Steven's turn.

They finished singing and got a score of 87.

A couple more songs were played including Miya singing with her brother and Merikuri with Charles. They scored '91' and '93' respectively.

The final 'couple' was chosen and it turned out to be Miyuki and Victor, much to Miyuki's surprise.

They both sang together 'A Whole New World'.

Everyone watched in silence as they took in the wonder of the soothing melody escaping from the speakers. Everyone was awed by the great mixture of melody and the harmony.

The song ended and two 9's flashed on the screen. Everyone clapped their hands.

Just then, Victor gave Miyuki a kiss on the cheek, somewhat similar to what Jan did except that this was unexpected, even to the audience, excluding Miya and Merikuri who had been planning this since the start.

Miyuki looked up at him. He gave her a small smile and walked away.

When they were all done singing, everyone headed to have a dunk in the beach.

Unexpectedly again, Victor shared a rubber tube with Miyuki.

“Where're we going?” Miyuki asked as he took her wrist and into the water.

“I want to talk to you,” came the swift reply.

SPLASH!

They arrived in the water and the two began to swim further away. Away from the others who might eavesdrop.

“Listen, Miyuki. Did you understand why I did that thing a while ago?” he asked, staring deep into her eyes.

She broke the eye contact and replied, “You like me, don't you?”

“Well...yes.”

A sigh.

“I'm sorry but...I don't like you.”

A frown.

“I like someone else.”

A bigger frown and a shattering of a heart.

“You like that Kyouya person, don't you?” Victor asked with a bitter tone.

“Yes.”

Silence.

A laugh.

“HAHAHA! I'm just toying with you, Victor!” she laughed.

A rise of an eyebrow.

“Of course I like you!”

Another laugh.

“And that Kyouya-person is still you!”

They both laugh together.

“You should've seen the look on your face back then when you confessed!”

No reply.

“It was priceless! Anyways, let's head back to shore.”

They both go back to the shore and cool off with towels.

Some students went off to swim more while some went and ate some cake.

Later that evening...

All the students were lying down on the sand, gazing at the sky. The cool sea breeze engulfing them.

Victor reached out to hold Miyuki's hand.

“For your sake, I will be staying here in CDO. Just for you,”he told her softly.

She turned and looked at him and frowned.

“Don't give up your education for me. I know very well that this won't last,” she told him sadly.

“Have you ever thought that you might be wrong?” he asked her, raising an eyebrow, trying to see if she was toying with him again.

“With college, you'll be very busy. You might even see prettier women. You'll forget me, I know.”

“No, I won't. How can I ever forget someone like you?”

“I just have this feeling.”

Silence.

“You're toying with me again, aren't you?”

“How'd you guess?”

“I should know you, shouldn't I?”

“Well, I guess.”

“But you're really pessimistic about this, aren't you?”

“What 'this' are you referring to?”

“Umm...t-this...relationship?”

“Other than being friends, I don't know any other relationship between us.”

Silence.

“You're toying with me again!”

“Haha, of course I am. I just love seeing that cute troubled face of yours!”
