Today was one of those hot boring days where you can't even think of something FUN to do. I was lying on my bed like some lazy bum. I couldn't think of anything at all to occupy me. I was bored as a stiff. Please excuse the lame pun.

I clutched my cellphone tightly, doing the same thing that I had been doing the past 10 minutes – waiting for a reply from my one and only crush.

I waited and waited but there was not one friggin' reply! I was getting pissed and was threatening to throw my phone at the wall.

I waited a few more minutes 'till there came my long awaited reply.

I'm pretty bored as well. Wanna go eat something at SM? I'll see you at 4 in front of...Pizza Hut. My treat.

Great. My heart just exploded 'til my arteries. I mentally rolled my eyes.

I hurriedly sent him a reply.

Sure. Are you really that bored? To invite me to pizza like this? Who else is coming?

I checked me watch and it read '2:30pm'. I lay back on the bed again.

Hmm...maybe, haha. I don't know...just felt like it. I can invite a few more people if you want.

That was his reply. I then hurriedly began pressing the keys of my phone.

I see. You don't really have to invite that much people. I'll be seeing you then. Are your parents going to come with you?

I waited a minute and his reply came.

Nope, they're just going to drop me off. I'll try inviting some people.

I then began composing my reply.

Okay...see you then!

I got up from my lying position and proceeded to prepare for my 'date'.

And hour later, I was ready. I just had to wait 30 more minutes.

I sat down, anxiously waiting for the minutes to pass.

25 minutes later, I got up and proceeded to get a tricycle. Once at the main gate, I boarded a jeep and headed for SM.

I then walked towards the entrance of Pizza Hut, where I saw him standing.

“Where're the others?” I asked him, looking at the inside of the resto.

“They said that they couldn't come (and that they'd rather not be a hindrance to the date.),” he told me.

“So I guess it's just you and me,” I smiled and took his hand and walked inside.

We took a seat across each other and placed our orders.

While waiting, I started the conversation.

“So...what're your plans this summer?” I asked him.

“Going for a two week vacation in Singapore,” he answered as he fidgeted with his cellphone.

“That's nice. When'll that be?” I asked, looking at his phone which was spinning around.

“Hmm...not sure. Depends on when the other people are coming, I guess,” he answered.

“Who?” I asked, eyes widening by a fraction.

“Don't tell me you didn't know. My father has invited your family to have vacation with us,” he informed me, now flipping his phone up and down.

“Really?! But our families aren't that close!” I protested.

“Now, really? Your parents keep dropping by for dinner and so do my parents at your place...” he told me, spinning the phone on the table.

I was getting distracted by the phone so I grabbed his hand to stop it from moving.

“I never knew that,” I told him, my hand still clutching his hand.

“I'm glad that I was the one that informed you,” he said, not even budging his hand from its awkward position. He seemed comfortable with it.

I wanted to roll my eyes so badly, but for the sake of decency, I didn't.

“Who else is coming?” I asked him, slowly removing my hand from its awkward position.

“Your family and my family. That's all,” he smiled softly.

“EH?” I half-screamed. People in the vicinity looked at my direction.

“I get the feeling that you are enjoying this...sadist,” I muttered low enough that only he could hear.

“Then it'll be a great summer,” he told me, ignoring my incoherent muttering, and moving the plates away to make room for the pizza that we ordered.

We ate in silence since I was a bit bothered by the things he said previously.

Once the pizza was finished, we paid the bill and headed out.

“What next?” I asked, looking at my watch. If I wasn't wrong, it was 5pm already.

“Hmm, it's too early to go home. Let's watch a movie?” he recommened.

“Erm, sure...who's paying?” I asked nervously.

“Hmm...KKB?” he asked.

“Okay,” I agreed and followed him up the escalator to pick a movie.

We, thrill seekers, weren't going to be content in watching those gooey romance films. We wanted horror. I was now mentally laughing maniacally. I really wonder if there's something wrong with me.

This movie was going to be the start of a summer together. I mentally stuck my tongue out at myself as this thought ran in my mind.

END.

Sequel: What a Summer!
