Diane came rushing into the room, excited beyond belief. She had won a contest that gave her and three friends a voyage they would never forget. They would have an entire luxury ship to themselves to do as they pleased, without being reprimanded. They could completely trash it and no one would give a damn. Surely Will and Lucie would join her. They would enjoy it just as much as she, she knew it.
A boat drifts through a midnight sea. A slight breeze rustles in its sails. The entire ship was dark and smoky. No one inhabited it, except for four beings. Kristof, an extremely large, green dragonfly, was one of the four. He is the protector of the living souls that once stayed on the ship. He was the reason Diane won the contest, he set it up himself. In hopes to break the curse upon the ship and its inhabitants. Someone had to sacrifice them self to set them free. He just hoped this time, he had chosen correctly. For the sake of them all.
“I don’t know about this, Diane. Something doesn’t seem right about this contest. Four people allowed to ramshackle a luxury ship and not have to pay for it? That’s just not right.”
“Oh come on, Lucie. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. How can you pass this up?”
“What is your take on this, Will? Think it’s a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’ as well?”
“I don’t know about that, but you know it’s not every day you get to trash a boat and not have to worry about the consequences. I say we do it. You need to have fun sometime in your life, Lucie. Why not now? We promise, if we get too rowdy for you, all you have to do is tell us to stop and we will.”
Lucie raised a skeptical eyebrow as she turned back to Diane. “Please Lucie, it won’t be the same without you.”
Sighing deeply, Lucie closed her eyes. “Alright, I’ll go with you.”
Diane’s eyes lit up. “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you…” She said as she ran up to Lucie and threw her arms around her in a tight embrace.
Breaking out of her hold, Lucie held Diane at arms length. “Just because I agreed to going, it doesn’t quell the fact that I don’t like this. I still think nothing good will come out of this.”
Will smiled as he put his arm around Lucie’s shoulders. “Oh hush, you. You never see things in a positive way. Always the negative.”
She shrugged. “I’ve yet to be wrong with thinking that way. By the way Diane, who is the fourth coming with us?”
“You’ll see when we reach the docks tomorrow morning.”
Releasing Diane and walking away, Lucie grumbled. “I have a bad feeling about that as well.” Only to be rewarded by laughter from Will and Diane.
