Black

Black is as dark as night,
As gloomy as a rainy day,
And is the color of the Blackbird.

Black is sweet like the sweetened blackberry,
Yet, as bitter as a rotten thing,
And as bitter-sweet as black licorice.

Black is as cool as a winter’s dark night,
Is as suffocating as a fire’s thick smoke,
And as smooth as velvet.

Black is the scent of a fresh blackberry pie,
A fresh layer of inc spilt on the canvas page - it’s harsh smell filling the air,
And is like the horrid scent of a burnt thing - a hazy mist of smoke hanging thick in the air.

Black is the haunting tune of a sorrow-filled song flitting in the wind,
As the piercing howling of the cool wind on a blustery day,
And as sweet sounding as the Raven’s call.
