Red

Red is the color of an apple - so ripe,
The color of crimson satin,
And the color of dark blood.

Red is the taste of a cherry-pie,
A sweet strawberry in summer time,
And the taste of a watery tomato.

Red is the warmth from the sun,
The piercing burn from a sunburn,
And the heat from the blaze of a fire.

Red is the sound of a Robin’s sweet song,
The shrilling sound of a fire engine racing by,
And the sound of the crackling of the warm fire.

Red is the scent of the little rose,
The ripened scent of strawberries filling the air,
And the scent of violets that bloom in Spring.
