oh my god

why do people use religious
imagery in poetry? or, i should
say, why so much and so often?
for chrissakes, jesus has been
dead for thousands of years now;
i think the idea is a bit out of date.

A/N: If you don’t get what I was doing, I seriously pity you.

A/N II: Okay, I obviously have to explain myself. People are hating on me for dissing religion, which is not what I intended at all. In case you hadn't noticed, I intentionally placed religious words in the poem so it seemed like I was dissing religion, when I was actually intending this as a parody. Look at the categories/genres. I'm sorry for the tone, but I don't like it when people assume I'm being full of myself or don't care about anything but myself. It was meant to be funny, not hurtful. And if that still bothers you, then I'm sorry, but I didn't intend it to harm anyone. People can have whatever religion they want and I actually don't mind it when people use religious imagery in poetry. I don't use it much myself, but that's a personal choice, not because I hate it. I'm just not great at using it. So please just stop hating me. It was meant as a joke.
