I may seem like I’m some mature teenager
But really, deep down inside
I’m a scared little kid.
The only thing I want it to curl in a ball
And hide in my closet during a storm.
I want to sit in someone’s lap and have
Them hold me and whisper words into my ear when I’m upset.
I want my dad to check the closet for monsters
And I want my mom to tuck me at night.
I want my brother to put me on his shoulders
So I can see above the crowd.
I want a nightlight and I want my Minnie Mouse doll back.
I want to be three again and listen to cassette tapes before I fall asleep.
But most of all, I want someone to protect me from everything
And for someone to keep me innocent.
