Descent
Come on now infants
Grow with the grain
I went there one night
I’ll never return again
Come now and join me
Make ourselves a world
Happy swaying nightmare
For all the boys and girls
I’ve substituted affection
For infectious collection
Of glittering liquid ore
Sweat drips from every pore
Turning head side-to-side
Looking through my hands
Thick black outline madness
Ripples in the lines
My cord is unplugged
My shelter so hidden
Rid me now of this land
Bring me to hell
The sort that you dream about
In your subconscious shell
Swaying through the molecules
Of gross moral disintegration
Dissolve now into nothingness
Distorted, time does not exist
I speak softly, echoing thus:
“I’m going to die
I’m going to die
I’m sorry, I’m sorry
It’s not real
It can’t be real”
The lizard sits mockingly
Its head topped with a funny hat
It’s eye so piercing
Prophesying my fate
As I descend into hell
Its walls aquamarine and run with crimson
Shapes
Shapes in the blackness
The great triangular shadow in the west
The black and shifting mass in the north
And nothing to be found eastward
My pillow is a mountain
I roll off and grasp the bright light
Is my heart beating too fast?
Or a trick of the night?
And thoughts of death surround me
Unbuttoning the shirt is a journey in itself
When I awake, the colors are so vivid
I can hardly move
