let the wood of my skin meet the steel of your flesh

her breath in my ear reaching, pulling my spine

and you below, pulling into me like a lover's grasp

like a lover's gasp is pulled from between ribs

and handless legs with rootless fingers

warm the cool, cool scales of that tenuous coil

while drums and voice awaken its running blood
