Not Forever Any More

Chapter Introduction

Present Day

One late evening, I patiently strolled around my neighborhood waiting for that enigmatic, suave hero to come up and save me. I counted my steps, I counted my breaths, and I even counted how many times I counted. It just seems he, whoever he was, was not rescuing tonight.

I stooped down to lay flatly on the sand. Slowly then, I rolled to the side and twirled and twisted my finger writing, “Lauren Abigail Ericsson.” The crashing waves, the endless silence, and the brightness of the stars slid me into deep thought forgetting what I wanted to believe.

I didn’t realize my 18th birthday was swinging around the corner. I’m turning to the legal age, and I have no one to call my syrup to my pancakes or as corny as it is the light of my day. Everyone once in their life, I imagined, would experience what it felt like to be wanted and watched over. Hope and those over done soap operas kept me going, seriously.

Everyday felt like it dragged on. I had those moments where it felt like one second was one minute, but nothing drastic happened after. Sometimes I don’t know how to be me without being conscious of what every guy thinks; it could be human or it could be my insecurity.

I retied my shoelaces and counted, again, the number of shells visiting the shallow side of the world. I paced my self running back home, but after a minute or two I ran as fast as fast could be according to my body’s stamina. With five minutes gone- five minutes I’ll never get back- I walked to the side of my house and opened the farthest window. I quickly crawled in trying to not make any racket. I really didn’t want to wake the house maid.

REVIEW: This of course is just an introduction. If I get at least three reviews, I’ll continue and more than 25 views I’ll praise the Lord and post the next chapter. So, review, if it’s just that damn good, or not.
