The End

The End

The day the sun went behind the clouds was the first day of the end of my life

On this day the smiles ended, the tears fell like hail on the windshield

The shining summer day became a brutal winter night, the wind and rain ripping me apart

But this day come only to my doorstep, as the rest of the world stood unchanged

The day the earthquake rattled my brain was the last day I gave a damn

The world rocked me hard enough to drop me to my knees

I kneeled, swaying back and forth with the motions of my mind

And everyone around stood still, unmoved, not noticing my shaking movements

The night the moon disappeared was the last night I slept

Pitch black with the streetlights to replace the stars

The cratered comfort used to give me solace from my own beaten life

Only, on this night, the moon left me forever

And the night that you left me was the first day I felt alone

No answer to the phone calls, no rescue from the fire on that night

Because on that night I gave up on myself, placing the release to my temple

And forgetting that there was ever anything called happiness
