Starlight

The fire grows dim,

my lights burnt out,

the sky's all that's left

and I wonder if you're looking too.

From the heavens, the stars sparkle.

The fire cracks in the night.

Crickets chirp in the distance

and I'm wishing you were here.

Alone in the cool,

I smile to myself

at all the times we've had;

the bad and the good.

The fish surface in the lake

and I'm still wishing you were here.

The night grows cold

and I need my heat.

All goes black…
