Two cupped hands
Held to the sky as if begging
Or praying
For benevolence
He is bearded

Black Converse Hi-Tops
With smiley face shoelaces

Would you like some mushrooms?

Easter egg hunts
Bits of colored foil
Stuck in the branches of trees
I suggest you leave quickly

April Fool’s!
You’re doing it all wrong
Oh, how I hope you don’t
Take your chances with circumstances

I know you’re better than that
Do you?

Blue dresses
Email addresses
Fake smiles, fake lives, fake hair
I was once a car tyre

China
He does not know how long it will take to wash the sticky cream cake off his face
Two dollars for every life

I once loved a musician
I remember he could make magic with his guitar
And break my heart with a riff

The man is morose
You have won a free HP laptop
Gabby the owl, Gabby the owl, Gabby the owl

When I try to write in free-form verse,
It’s like I’m trying to piece a broken body together
With Clag paste
Don’t get me wrong,
Clag paste is fuckin’ awesome
But face it: it’s pretty ineffective
And it doesn’t taste all that good either

For some reason, this makes more sense to me
Than every other poem I’ve written
Possibly because it makes no sense at all

Maybe I talk too much
Or not enough at all
