3rd hour

Alone in the Night

As I lay under the shining night sky

Looking at the stars and the enormous moon

The stationary stars were dancing in circles

As I talked to the moon and her great face

I looked around there and was no one

To my right was darkness and

To my left was emptiness except

The moon and her great face

As I tried to fight the feeling I did not want

It crept upon me

The great feeling like a specter

A shadow in the night

It grasped upon my heart

And held it up as its prize

Then the feeling was there and I

A shadow in the night

I told myself that I was not feeling this way

There were people around me

I was fighting not to become

A shadow in the night

But the specter would not let up

The feeling stayed firm

There was no one around

But the moon in her great face

Then I people calling out my name

I saw my friends, those who cared

Those who saw me

As more than a shadow in the night

As my friends neared me

The specter began to wince and flinch

It finally let go and disappeared

Like a shadow in the night

When the specter let go

The horrible feeling vanished

I felt new warmth

The feeling of companionship

I was not alone anymore

Not a shadow in the night

I laughed with my friends

Under the moon and her great face
