Thank You

Thank You

By Renee Thomas

I look all around me, and that’s when I see

That I’m truly blessed, as gifted as can be.

I have parents and brothers; family and friends,

All who love me till the very end.

I have clothes and education and shelter and food

With all these blessings, it grows easy to ignore the rude.

Outside of that, I have people who care.

And I’ve found them to be quite unique and rare.

Rare like a diamond, one in a million.

Thank you, Lord, thank you, for giving me them out of a billion

My heart is so full of love, it’s ready to drown.

Shame to all of you who try to put me down

For you won’t find weakness here, only a wall iron-strong.

For I have so much to be thankful for, as I’ve realized all along.

So may my enemies be loved, for they drown in pain

Let me have less joy, so they can have some to gain.

I thank you, Lord, for granting me my life

And giving me so much when others have more strife

The only thing I ask is to give others hope

Hope that they could use when at the end of their rope.

For they are not as lucky; as blessed with love as me.

So lessen their hate and pain, and fill them all with glee.

May all who read this poem see it for what it seems;

Be inspired; believe in yourself

And always follow your dreams.
