Light and dark play on the edges

of tan, red desert rocks,

grappling in day for dominance,

shadow--light; fight deadlocks.

-

Sunset comes, mingling different hues

together but still--still--

light, dark are in competition

In twighlight's (standstill) thrill.

-

Night falls on the craggy desert,

fissures filled in moonlight--

silent grace heals the daytime hurt;

God is in the starlight.

-

My lost, gentle conscience returns

with nighttime memories--

as chaotic day breaks, it yearns

to dance under night skies.
