Chapter Six

My face was red with anger. I kept walking, I remembered that only a few minutes ago I was in love. And now I’m not. And now I’m alone. Tears trickled down my face. I kept walking, not realizing where I was going. By the time I walked in the building, only two people stood there waiting for me. Those two people were Joel and Emma.

“ Haylee, what happened?” they both asked. I told them everything, new tears spilling out of my eyes.

“ Hey you kids get to class” a teacher yelled.

Emma hugged me, and dashed off to her class. Joel and I walked slowly to our class.

“ Haylee, I need to tell you something” Joel said quietly.

I smiled shyly. “ What is it?”.

He turned his head a bit. “ How long have we known each other? What 14 years? I well- think you’ll hate me after you hear this”.

I stopped him. I touched his face gently. “ Joel whatever it is you can tell me. You know I’ll always like you. Heck I love you. I-” I was stopped.

Joel put his lips against mine. At first I was surprised, but then I let myself next to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and played with his hair. I heard him moan a little, he turned our bodies toward the wall. He slammed me up against a cold icy wall, I pushed my chest against his. This time I moaned a little.

We finally broke a few a minutes later. Our lips swollen, from the lack of air. We were silent, my eyes scanned his body language. He obviously wasn’t afraid to show me he cared.

“ Uh.. Joel, what just happened? I mean I like it a lot. I just, never knew you had feelings for me. I mean when did you?” I asked slowly.

He looked at me confusingly. Joel touched my cheek lovingly. He stared in my eyes while he spoke. “ Hales, I always had feelings for you, I always loved you. When you told me what happened to you and Ethan, it made me so mad! A guy shouldn’t treat you like that. You deserve a guy to be there for you, love you, make you feel loved.”

I smiled weakly. I wrapped my thin frail arms around his muscular chest. I heard him moan.

“ All right, c’mon lets go somewhere. Somewhere, where no one can find us” Joel said lovingly, while he kissed my hair.

I smiled. I was very confused. On the verge of tears. At one point I was in love with Ethan, next I wasn’t. Now I’m here kissing Joel. My best friend.
