It's thunderstorming outside,
and my house is quiet,
save the cliché winds and raindrops
that hit against it.

I lie in my bed, and it's warm, and I dream
because I like to imagine,
even if what I imagine is silly.

I want sunshine and rainbows
and long swims in clean lakes.

I am expecting to be disappointed,

but I am learning to enjoy
this feeling of defeat I get
when things go just as pre-planned.

It's becoming so natural to me
that I can smile sincerely

when the rains stop,
and I must go rake and bag
the leaves that fell.

i've been away at a science nerd competition. :-)
