She is perfect.
Every molecule of her body was linked with each adjoining molecule to form the most flawless girl I would ever see in my entire life.
Each time I see her, time passes in slow motion. The wind comes from nowhere and gently pushes her brown hair back over her shoulders. The sun finds its way through the clouds and sends a ray of light to illuminate her face.
The rest of the world slowly fades until all I know is her; her perfect face; her perfect hair; her perfect clothes; her perfect smile…
Every element of my being becomes highly focused on her.
I stare. I almost come to a standstill. I turn and watch her walking away, never once acknowledging my very existence.
At that point the rest of the world comes crashing down on top of me, forcing me back to reality- usually because I crashed into something.
Usually I've crashed into someone.
I saw her almost everywhere: in the library (even the science library, where she was reading a book about theoretical physics!), the cafeteria, the lounge in the student union, between classes, and jogging every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings.
I knew a lot about her, just from seeing her around so much. She was taking at least two math classes, an introduction to theoretical physics, and at least one computer class. She had more guy friends than girl friends and could throw a Frisbee better than I could ever hope to.
She never wore clothes that fit too tight, or showed too much skin, even when she was jogging. She always wore glasses, the rectangular ones with the thin black rims.
She didn't have a boyfriend. I knew because I overheard her telling her friend that she doesn't think she could date any of the guys she knows.
She doesn't drink alcohol, because she was complaining that some of her friends drink.
She was the perfect girl for me, but I would never be able to get her to even notice me.
I'm just too nervous; too shy.
I've never had a girlfriend. Hell, I've never even kissed anyone.
I'd never be able to pull off anything smooth enough to get me a date with the world's most perfect girl. I'd probably slip and fall on my own drool before I could even introduce myself.
So I came up with a master plan.
I made a time machine.
