Soundtracks
This one is a bit longer because these two are cannon for me. While it's not exactly how they met, it was fun to write somewhat of an AU to fit the song. Had to tweak it a bit, like I had to do with some of the others, to make them better fit, but I think it turned out ok.
Jes is on loan from my friend Madison.
None of the songs belong to me.
Enjoy!

It wasn’t all that unusual an occurrence for it to be dark when Asho got back to his apartment; his class didn't end until around 7 if the professor wasn’t feeling as verbose as he normally did and then he was faced with a 20 minute trek back to his apartment. But tonight was just a bit different. And he didn’t like it.
Tonight there was no light at all when he let himself into the building. No glow from the clocks. No illumination from the Exit signs. No illumination from the street lamps out front. Nothing but darkness.
Letting out a shaky breath, Ash fumbled to his apartment by the light of his cell phone. When he turned the key in the lock and stepped into his pitch black apartment, he slumped against the wall and punched Desiree’s phone number into his dying cell.
“Hey, you.” She sounded tired. Not an exhausted type of tired, but an “I’m sick of humanity as a whole” type of tired.
“What’s going on with the power?” He tried not to let the panic he felt creep into his voice but if Des or Zane, or Ulric for that matter, were within 20 feet of him, they’d have smelt the fear radiating off of him.
The vampiress let out a dissatisfied grunt. “It’s been out since before I woke up at around 6 or so. I called the company and they said they should—stress on the should—have the power back on by morning. I am not holding my breath with these morons.”
“You got somewhere to store your ‘food’?”
“Yeah,” she sighed. “Zane made me get a back up generator for the fridge. Now, I’m kind of glad for it. Not that I’ll ever tell him that.”
Ash wanted to laugh; while the female vampire could have forgone the bagged blood in the refrigerator and went out to find a “dinner date,” she still had a few of her human habits and was a bit squeamish still about live feedings. Zane, her creator, didn’t force her like most would have and allowed her to keep a fridge full of “take out” from a local hospital.
Her voice filled his ear again. “Are you going to be ok, Ash? Zane mentioned that you had a thing about the dark…”
“I’ll be fine,” he answered quickly with a smile she couldn’t see. “I’ve got candles and flashlights and things.”
They said their goodbyes and Ash went groping about his kitchen. As it turned out, while he had candles, he had no matches. And all of his flashlights were dead.
“Fantastic,” he muttered, gripping tight to the candle in his hand. “Well…” A shaky intake of air. “Time to go meet the neighbors, I guess.”
The tremors plaguing him had intensified by the time he got to the door of the apartment next to his. He tried to calm himself before knocking.
The door was flung open and Ash caught a glimpse of a person in the moonlight coming from a single uncovered window. A broad back, tan skin and a mess of black hair. As the body rounded a corner, Ash saw a flash of orange tangled in the underside of the hair before they disappeared.
“What’d you forget, Anya,” the voice was low, male and slightly annoyed. “Other than your keys.”
With someone else nearby, it was easier to let his normally charismatic personality become a façade. Leaning in the doorway, he smiled, “Got a light?”
The neighbor turned, eyes—the same color as the streaks in his hair—wide with shock. After a moment, those oddly glowing eyes narrowed. “I know you...You’re… You’re shivering!” He took a tentative step forward and stopped.
Ash shoved a shaking hand into his pocket and tried to shove back the fear rising in his throat. “It’s nothing, can’t turn on my heat,” he let himself laugh as he walked fluidly towards the neighbor. “And I’m just a little weak on my feet.” He held out his shaking hand. “Would you light my candle?”
The neighbor blushed at his flirty smile and went off to find matches.
Staring appraisingly at that disappearing backside, Ash smiled. If he played his cards right, he wouldn’t have to alone in the dark tonight.
Remember, I like suggestions for new songs to write about! But make them from musicals!!
